Billford for the fairytale meme

flo-nelja:

Ooh, I have already thought about this one, and I’m thinking about the Halewyn story. Because I love this story, it’s so creepy.

So, Bill is a fairy that sings in the forest (I guess it’s human!Bill for plot reasons), and naive!prince!Ford hears him and falls madly in love and follows him (he was soooo interested in the idea of fairies even before, from reading books). They ride for days and Bill tells him lots of things about fairies and the world in general and they play lovebirds. Then Bill shows him his gallows of humans he has previously killed, but as he likes Ford, he tells him that he will let him choose the way he will die. Ford asks to be beheaded, but Bill must remove his shirt (plot reasons) so that he doesn’t get too bloody. And as Bill does, Ford takes his own sword that his brother gave him to protect his honor and beheads Bill (plot reasons, he needs a head).

The head keeps singing, though, and asking Ford to then gut his head and die with him. And Ford doesn’t; he just takes the head with him, and flees, and gets back in his castle. Ans as everyone calls this end a triumph, he pulls Bill’s head out of his bag, puts it on the banquet table, and says: he’s my husband, you should serve him.
